Greens move to legalise ICE is dangerous to our families
The Greens move and campaign to legalise “Ice” drug is another example why the Social Justice Group is urging people to drop the white ballot paper at this election.
“The Greens promoted themselves for the last few years as the alternative progressive voice for the traditional parties. Yet, we see how they understand progressiveness” said Jamal Daoud, the spokesperson for the group. “For them, progressiveness is only legalizing all drugs, allowing same sex marriage and promoting euthanasia”
“We hoped that they could do something during the last few years to raise the representation of the almost not represented marginalised groups like the Indigenous people, people with English as second language, people with disabilities or people from poor areas”
“The Greens’ hierarchy is composed from privileged middle class white people with no place in it for any person from marginilsed group. It failed to rise up for any real progressive issue”
The “Ice” is well-known for its harmful highly addictive effects at low cost. It is responsible for destroying young lives, especially from poor and marginalised backgrounds. The legalisastion of this drug will only encourage the poor young people to become addict to this deadly drug.
We know that the traditional major parties did let marginalised people down, but the so-called progressive alternative parties did not present better example.
The group believes that tackling the drug issues is not as simple as legalizing them only. It needs to tackle the social issues leading to the addiction, like social isolation, poverty, unemployment, racism and feeling of being of second class citizen. The Greens did not do anything to tackle this.
